  • Dr. Amy Fiedler is a cardiac surgeon who specializes in caring for patients with heart failure, including those who need heart transplantation. Her focus is on restoring patients' quality of life. Seeking to deliver holistic care, she believes in the powerful connection between mind and body and in the importance of trust and open communication between patient and provider.

Fiedler's research focuses on increasing patient access to heart transplantation by improving current techniques for organ preservation and procurement as well as by developing new ones.

Fiedler earned her medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed residencies in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She was in the class of 2020 of the Presidential Leadership Scholars, a program offered through the collaboration of several former U.S. presidents' centers and foundations. She currently serves as surgical director for Team Heart, a nonprofit organization providing cardiac surgery to people in Rwanda.
