Biography
Rodrigo de Souza, M.D. is Associate Professor of Surgery at UCSF and Co-Director of ECMO Program. He was trained at the Gama Filho University, completing a surgical residency and fellowship before coming to UCSF. He joined the UCSF faculty in 2021.
He is one of the most experienced surgeons in Latin America and around the whord specialized on performing endoscopic cardiovascular surgery and he has special interest on minimally invasive coronary bypass surgery, which improves the results regarding a faster recovery and early return to full physical activities withou compromising long term results as it is done using arterial grafts (arteries) to perform the bypass.
Highly respected by his peers, Dr. de Souza was recently approved to the highest title by Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery which denotes the top physicians within a region practicing a given specialty. He is a frequent presenter and proctor helping to diffuse the knowledge about minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
