Dr. Amy G. Fiedler was named the co-director of the cardiac critical care Unit at UCSF Health.  

UCSF's Cardiac Critical Care Unit provides comprehensive hospital care to critically ill adults being treated primarily for heart conditions, including heart attacks and heart failure. Other patients with life-threatening conditions may also receive care in the unit. Specialty care may include cardiac medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, and vascular surgery. 

Dr. Fiedler is a cardiac surgeon who specializes in caring for patients with heart failure, including those who need heart transplantation. She earned her medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed residencies in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She was in the class of 2020 of the Presidential Leadership Scholars, a program offered through the collaboration of several former U.S. presidents' centers and foundations. She currently serves as surgical director for Team Heart, a nonprofit organization providing cardiac surgery to people in Rwanda.
