Bianca Bromberger, MD

We are proud to announce the appointment of Bianca Bromberger, MD as Co-director of the CT Surgery ICU.

Dr. Bromberger brings a deeply integrated background in transplantation, critical care, and advanced cardiothoracic surgery. She earned her undergraduate degree from Haverford College and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania before completing her general surgery residency at Columbia University. It was there that she began focusing on the care of critically ill patients experiencing organ failure — work that would shape the trajectory of her career.

During residency, she completed a dedicated fellowship in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), gaining specialized expertise in supporting patients with severe lung failure. She went on to complete fellowship training in critical care medicine and is board-certified in the specialty. Dr. Bromberger returned to the West Coast for her adult cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at UCSF, where she trained within the institution’s leading heart and lung transplant programs and developed a strong commitment to caring for patients with end-stage cardiopulmonary disease.

As Co-director, Dr. Bromberger will help guide the continued evolution of Cardiac Surgery through a focus on clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of transplant and mechanical circulatory support care. Her leadership will support both the operational strength and long-term strategic growth of the program.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Bromberger on this leadership appointment at UCSF Health.
